make your own tinted lipbalm

winter is officially here. so although that means snugly evenings by the fire with a blanket it also means really frizzy hair and super dry skin and lips! that means that continuing my lipstick obsession into winter can be super difficult because my lips just become so dry and flaky that i can't wear it, and right now a wash of lip balm underneath just isn't cutting it!

i decided the best way to solve this issue would be make myself a tinted lip balm from my lipsticks, colour and no flakiness (hopefully!)

you will need
a lipstick
some vaseline/petroleum jelly
a small storage pot
something to mix with (i used halloween toothpicks!)

1. place a small amount of vaseline and the chosen lipstick colour into the small pot. (remember you can always add more so don't put loads in at once!)

2. place in the microwave. heat in small bursts about 10 seconds at a time, stirring as it becomes more liquidy.

3. leave the lid off and place the pot on a flat surface. once the mixture starts to cool and solidify place the lid back on.

5. it's now ready to use!

how do you solve the beauty problems that come with the winter time? have you got any tips and tricks?

  1. I used to do this all the time haha :) I love being able to add a bit of colour to my lips whilst keeping them in good condition at the same time :)

  2. That is such a brilliant way of finishing up a lipstick, especially if it's a particular favourite. Plus a great way of looking after your lips but still being able to wear your favourite shade.

    So going to do this ;)

  3. i love making them! makes my lips feel so much nicer in this awful weather!

    @katm go on i dare you ;)

  4. This is a great tip! Does this really work well? I like this idea, maybe I'll do a few real quick to do as christmas gifts?

  5. oh yes! it makes your lips so soft and lovely. i also found it made me prefer the lipstick shade even more?! xoxo
