gosh a/w 13

so last week i popped up to london to check out the autumn/winter collection for gosh. gosh is a brand that i always find myself gazing at when i head into superdrug. the nails polishes always seem to jump out at me.

this is that part of the post where i apologise for the crappy pictures again. my camera did it again so for i've had to use my phone pictures. (some of you may recognise them from my instagram! @voussouriez if you're interested!)

one of the biggest products in this launch was the addition of a cc cream to the range. i'm actually yet to try one but i love the formula of this. it felt lovely when i had a play with it, moisturising and easy to blend. i'm looking forward to giving it a proper try over the next few weeks.

like a moth to a flame you couldn't keep me away from the glitters! the shades are fairly bog standard but if the other gosh polishes are anything to go by then these will be a great addition to anyone's collection!

these aren't actually part of the new collection but there was a nice shade selection and i'm a sucker for a gimmick. these had a light AND a mirror on the side i couldn't help it!

the velvet touch lip liners are something that i'm particularly excited to try. they are waterproof and come in some beautiful shades. i've already had a bit of a swatch and i can report that they really are waterproof! i couldn't get them off my arm!

as well as these bits and bobs they also have bb powders, new mascaras and eyeliners and some beautiful nail polish shades in the collection. but don't worry i have some reviews and pictures to come! the collection will be available from 29th july in superdrug.

all star lanes

last week i went up to stratford to meet up with a few uni friends. we ended up in westfields and a bit of persuading from me we settled on bowling as our activity for the evening. i have to admit i had no idea this place existed. it is the cutest diner crossed with a bowling alley hidden at the back. we settled on the burger and bowl deal and headed to get some of those beautiful bowling shoes before moving to our lane.

the staff were all super friendly and took our drinks order from the little booth by our lane. the list of milkshakes and cocktails is endless! charlie played it safe with an oreo milkshake whilst i decided on 'oh sweet jeez' the perfect combination of peanut butter, chocolate, caramel and banana. just amazing. we ordered our burgers and the games began!

naturally we had to do boys versus girls, which did somewhat back fire... i had failed to mention that i really cannot bowl. don't get me wrong when i do hit the pins i seem to somehow get a very good score! but sadly i rarely hit the pins... so surprisingly the boys won. our disappointment was short lived as we were soon called over to have our burgers. the boys settled for traditional beef burgers but i went a little outside the box and decided on a grilled chicken burger with blue cheese. it was delicious!

this really was the perfect little hideaway for our evening together and it's definitely somewhere i would go back to! reasonable prices and a lovely atmosphere! a big thumbs up from me!

have you found any hidden gems lately?

harvey nichols xmas in july

i never normally do warnings like this but... BEWARE! THIS IS A MASSIVELY PICTURE HEAVY POST! there was just so much to see at the event that i wanted to share with you! it did feel a bit weird seeing fairy lights and xmas music when it's 30 degrees outside (and fyi fairy lights make for awful photograph lighting!) there is a lot to take in so make a cup of tea, sit back and start making that xmas list!

the first set of offerings were from creme de la mer. this is definitely where to look if you really want to treat someone as the sets don't come cheap. the first set is the ageless collection, providing you with everything you need to get that radiant, youthful glow to your skin and comes in at £375. The second is the nourishing collection which is perfect for anyone and everyone, giving you product to truly pamper yourself. this set works out a little cheaper at £200. like i said the sets aren't cheap but they are a lovely gift for someone who is a big fan of the brand or if you simply wish to have a bit of a splurge.

laura mercier are releasing a brand new collection for us to enjoy this xmas entitled 'the white magic collection'. the idea behind it is to move away from the bright red lips and dark eyes we tend to see around xmas and inside move towards a more ethereal look, with pearly white shades and muted greys. i was lucky enough to have a few of the products applied and i and a particular fan of the two eye shadows pearl fantasy and opal fantasy (for the inner corner) which we used. they gave a beautiful subtle colour, the perfect addition to fresh skin look. these will be available from november. as well as make up they are also offering indulgent bath items. i already have my eye on the set of body souffl├ęs; the vanilla scented one is just divine!

i have to say i am massive fan of the noble isle shower gels. they really do add a touch of luxury to your bath or shower and naturally when i saw this bath and body gift set i fell in love. you get six little bottles ranging from shower gel to body wash to body lotion in various different scents, for only £29. it's a lovely present for someone who is new to the brand or if you just can't make your mind up! they are also offering up 3 more gift sets for this xmas with various different items in each. from candles to hand washes, there really is something for everyone.

benefit are really spoiling us this year with 10 new sets being released for xmas. there is a perfume set containing a brand new fragrance 'under my spell noelle' (£29.50) which is right up my street, as well as a lip gloss set containing 6 different shades of the ultra plush gloss's (£19.50). my personal favourite is 'little love potions' (£29.50) which contains 10 mini's of their best selling items. it's the perfect way to really get a feel for the brand at only a smidge of the price.

before this event i'd always admired bare minerals from a far. i don't have the best skin and mineral make up scared me. but i am now well and truly converted! the lovely make up artist ioannis assured me that he could make me feel just as confident in the mineral make up as i do with my full coverage and off he went. my skin looked totally flawless and i have been singing their praises ever since! so it comes as no surprise to hear that their get started kit has shot to the top of my wishlist! it works out at £50 at contains two foundations, a warmth powder, a finishing powder and 3 brushes. bargain! they also have a new palette called the perfect 10, which contains a selection eye, face and lip products for you to have play around with. the brush sets are the perfect travel size and are £39 and £29 depending on which pick up. for someone like me looking to start trying the brand, bare minerals have got it covered this xmas.

lancome's xmas colour collection was right up my street. plenty of glitter! i was excited to see the eye liner patches as the idea has always intrigued me, and coupled with the limited edition glittery cased version of their hypnose mascara i am sure it'll be a winner.

it was nice to see burt's bees at the event as i have always liked their products. this xmas they have got some lovely little sets for us with a selection of their best selling products. they are great for both die hard fans and someone entirely new to it. in fact  i'd be inclined to buy one and use it for stocking fillers as all the products are the perfect size!

this last offering was actually something i walked straight past, but luckily the lovely lady at the stand ran after me and i'm so glad she did! yes this is a tomato puree. and on paper it doesn't sound very exciting but the flavours in it are something else! it delivers all of those slow cooking flavours super fast and squirt of this into your dish is guaranteed to turn it into a gourmet meal! (within reason! i'm not sure what it would do to beans on toast!) at only £1.95 it is an absolute bargain for what it is and i have actively been searching for it ever since!

this really was only a selection of the pieces on offer at the press day but i'd be here forever if i tried to show you it all! brands really are spoiling us this year with their offerings and i for one have already added at least 10 things to my xmas list!

big ♥,

nb i can only apologise for how crappy the quality of pictures are! i NEED  a new camera. it hasn't quite been the same since i spilt a drink on it...oppsie! when i finally get out of my overdraft i am on it!

buying at bravissimo

i always wondered about writing this post but i don't think some companies get the recognition they deserve when it comes to customer service. it's easy to be polite and answer a few questions but the staff in the various bravissimo stores around the country really do go above and beyond when it comes to helping their customers. when i was down in brighton the other weekend i popped into their store with the aim of finding a few bits and bobs and the staff there really made it both easy and enjoyable.

as a woman with a larger bust i find it really hard to find underwear to fit me. even in stores like bravissimo which cater for people like me my size can be in short supply, so rummaging around the store to find the few pieces in my size doesn't always appeal. instead, you can go straight to the changing room and take one of two options: either receive a fitting and then be brought some bits in your size, or simply tell them the size you think you are and have them do the same. i chose the latter option and after telling them my preferred styles i was presented with a large selection.

i was left to try them all on to my hearts content and when i needed any help i simply popped on the silky purple dressing gown (one in every dressing room) and stuck my head out. quickly someone would come to my aid, whether it be to get me a different size or check the fit. no request was too much and everything was with a smile. it felt well and truly welcome and happy to be there.

after much deliberation i decided on two favourites which i promptly purchased and took home. (it feels so nice to own pretty underwear that actually fits me!) the lady at the tills added me to their loyalty programme with no trouble and now once i have purchased 10 bra's i get one free! you can't really say no to that!

for me bravissimo is a company that others should learn from. i understand it isn't necessarily practical for all shops to operate this way but it is the can-do attitude and service with a smile that makes all the difference!

where is your favourite place to shop?

sampling samples #4

its that time again... my room is piled high with boxes full of products at the moment and quite frankly i can't be bothered to search through to find things. so for the mean time i grabbed a few sample sized products to see me through.

benefit posie tint
i'd had this in my drawer for a while but i'm not really big on stains. this tint is a beautiful baby pink and blended seamlessly into my skin, giving you that little flush of colour. this and my bb cream together creates the perfect 'no make-up' make-up look for my lazy days. i would really want to repurchase this when it runs out but it is a little on the expensive side so it may have to be a birthday gift.

monu first defence hydrating moisturiser
i was unsure about this when i first put it on. the smell isn't unpleasant... just a little odd, but the product itself is nice. it isn't sticky feeling and left my skin feeling soft and ready for make-up. i also like that this has spf 15 in it, not enough alone for everyday wear but a step in the right direction!

maybelline bb cream
i was a little nervous trying this. british bb creams seem to either be really popular or don't quite make the cut, compared to their Asian counterparts anyway. on paper this seemed like a good choice for me; with 8 different benefits and spf 30 i was expecting a lot. the colour blended beautifully despite me being quite pale and left no oily, sticky feeling to my skin. it left my skin feeling fresh and gave a light-medium coverage, not quite enough for nights out etc but perfect for those warm sunny days when you don't want much. this is already on my list to pick up next time i go down to boots.

paul mitchell awapuhi texturizing sea spray
i LOVE this product. it is the perfect size to chuck in my bag, it smells amazing, and it gives me the most glorious beachy waves with a quick spritz! i'd say this is probably the best texturising spray i've used to date and it's definitely something i would look to pick up next time i'm out!

sun sense invisible tint finish
i wore this to the beach today and it is the perfect base for your skin! it comes out tinted but it barely visible on the skin, blending in seamlessly. it feels quite thin and watery but doesn't hang around on the skin. it sinks in straight away and isn't at all sticky. the spf 50 is definitely a plus point too!
what products have you been enjoying at the moment?

july seaside splash glossy box

glossy box is a beauty box that continues to impress me. i don't think i have ever opened a box and found nothing i like. i very rarely blog about the boxes as once you've read one review you've pretty much seen them all... but this summertime box was too cute to pass up!

the july glossy box* is designed to help you prep for that seaside getaway and is full of products to both prepare you and aid you when you arrive! i was happy to see the coola mineral sunscreen in my box as i'm trialling a few few at the moment before my holiday! although spf20 isn't really alot i'm still excited to see how it works out. a nice ciate nail polish is always a welcomed addition to any beauty box especially in this gorgeous summery shade. the facial spritz will be perfect to chuck in my bag during hot days out, alongside the texture mist to help me get beachy waves on the go. i'm particularly excited to try out the nip+fab blackhead buster, as blackheads are something i've always really struggled with. no matter how much my skin improved they still won't budge! so here's hoping this might make a difference!

i'm really pleased with this months glossy box! there really is nothing in it that i won't use, and i'm so excited to start trying it all out!

what did you get in your glossy box? have you tried any of these products?

avon true colour collection

last week i popped along to have a look at the newest collection from avon. the collection uses true colour technology meaning that the colour you see really is what you get! i thought i'd show you a selection of the products on show before i get the chance to put up some proper reviews for you. this really is only the smallest portion of the products on offer, (there are 17 eye palettes and 60 lip colours!) but it's a little something to wet your appetite.

this last picture (poor quality i know! i'm sorry!) isn't actually part of this collection but it was a hot topic at the event! its brand new technology and the only mascara of its kind! is no longer than my finger and has a bendy handle which allows you to have it at the best angle for you, and really get to all of those little lashes you sometimes miss. this is a launch i am very excited for! expect it late in the autumn.

as for the true colour collection, that launches this coming august, so not long to go now! have you seen anything that catches your eye?

this city never sleeps

the weekend before last i headed down to brighton to visit some family and in the process decided to venture off around the streets and seafront. there is so much going on everywhere that you'll never find yourself bored! i started the day by wandering round the lanes and got myself some lunch from pret a manger to eat in the sun (crayfish salad  and grapes fyi). i sat and ate my food on the beach and followed it up with a walk along the pier, past the royal pavilion and down the north lanes. there is the most adorable little frozen ice cream store down there, definitely world a visit!

did i miss any hidden gems? where are your favourite places to visit in brighton?

stay out tonight and see through my eyes

| crop top- river island | skirt- topshop | rings- topshop, primark, charity shop | bracelet- republic| sandals- new look|
trying to take outfit pictures whilst i'm back home for the summer is a total nightmare. my mother looks lost every time i give her a camera and it takes me a good hour to get any remotely usable picture. (but i do really appreciate you trying mum! so thank you!)

i wore this outfit to an event on wed night. i find crop tops and skater skirts really are the perfect combo in the hot weather. they cover just enough that you don't look like you're heading to a beach, but leave enough skin on show to keep me cool and let me get a bit of colour at the same time.

i wish i'd got a nice picture of the back of the top! it has the most wonderful cut away with bows but no picture did it justice so i thought it was better to let your imaginations run wild! i'll add one when i can get something decent.

what have you been wearing in the summery weather? how do you wear crop tops?

shopping the summer sales

| boots £40- topshop | nude heels £24.99- h&m | jewellery £1 each- republic | jumper £9.99- h&m |
| concealer £4.19- boots |

last week i took i trip out to say goodbye to my best friend before she heads off on her placement and as was to be expected we had our usual day out involving shopping and nandos. key elements in any girls life. it had been far too long since i had last been out actually looking at nice things for myself so i took the opportunity to pick up a few bits i'd been looking for for a while.

every girl needs a pair of nude heels and a good pair of boots and up until this trip i had been without both! i'd tried on so many pairs of heels in the past but each shade wasn't quite right, either too pink or too nude (yes i am a little fussy). this pair is just the right mix for my skin shade and the perfect height to wear out without me looking like a giant! the boots are a lot higher than i would usually buy but there was something about these that made me fall in love. i'd never really got the love of chelsea boots.. they reminded me too much of my horse riding boots i used to wear! and yet these have become a wardrobe staple for me... even though it's summer! and to top it all off they were reduced from £62! bargain!

i didn't really need the jewelley... i never do. and yet here we are again. the rack in republic was crammed full of jewllery, most of it only £1! what's a girl to do in that situation really?! as for the jumper, it was a bit of a random purchase i just thought it might be nice to chuck over summer dresses on cold evenings.

an all round successful trip i'd say! i've managed to cross a few bits off my list, but i've definitely added a lot more since! have you picked up anything nice recently? any shops i need to pop into?

exploring my home town | sissinghurst castle

those of you who follow me on instagram (@voussouriez if you're interested) will have already met my beautiful plumber terrier duggie, but i don't think i've ever featured him on my blog before? not with a proper introduction anyway. since coming back from uni i've taken over dog walking duties from my mum and have set myself the challenge of exploring all of the hidden treasures in the countryside around where i where better to start than a castle! it was so beautiful that i just had to share some of the pictures i took.

sissinghurst castle is a national trust property a short drive away from me and it has some of the most beautiful walks around it. duggie loved gazing at the ducks in the water and even discovered a secret door hidden in a bank! he loved every second we spent wandering along the little footpaths and i even found some little detours we can take to change up our route a bit each time. i didn't get to go inside the castle this time but maybe that's a trip for the future. the best bit? its basically on my doorstep!
